Privacy for Journal readers

This page explains how Elementec Journal handles information when you browse, ask a question, request a test or take part in a discussion. Questions and test requests are available when the Journal is open for participation.

When you ask a question or request a test

The submission records your question or test request, the product or observation it concerns, any test conditions you add and an optional display name. This context helps the team understand what you need to know and plan a useful response.

Your question, test conditions and display name may appear in the public Journal after team review. Sending a question does not publish it immediately. The current form has no private-only submission option, so include only details you are comfortable sharing publicly. Avoid personal contact details, account information or other sensitive material.

You do not need a reader account or an email address to use this question flow.

Following your question and its answer

After submission, a private receipt link lets you check the request’s status and use its delete action. Keep that link safe: anyone with it can access those receipt controls.

Approved questions and answers can become part of a public discussion around the product or observation. Other readers can view and copy public content. Public follow-up questions go through review too; a discussion does not give readers access to private team notes or unpublished testing.

The present reader flow does not collect an email address or register an email or phone notification subscription. Use your receipt link to check progress. The aim of prompt, useful answers guides the testing; submitting a question does not guarantee a response or a particular turnaround time.

Who handles your information

Authorised Elementec team members review incoming questions privately and use them to plan tests and responses. If the CaptureMind connection is configured, your question and relevant test context can be sent to the team’s capture app to help with testing and follow-up.

The services providing the Journal’s hosting and database storage process submissions and related records to operate the Journal. Team access and service processing are separate from approval to display a question or answer publicly.

Your browser and request information

Edits to an unsent question stay in the open tab’s memory and can be lost if you close or refresh the page. Search terms are included in page addresses, which can appear in browser history or a link you share. Starting a question from a search can also carry that search text into the question page’s address.

To limit repeated submissions and prevent abuse, the Journal uses a derived network identifier for request limits. Hosting services may also process request and connection information. Moderation, security-limit and delivery records help the team handle submissions and recover from errors.

Deleting your question

Using Delete on a valid reader receipt removes that submission’s text, conditions, display name and answer from the active record, hides its public thread and cancels its active delivery. A deletion status record and associated operational records can remain.

This action does not promise to erase every backup, previously received team-device copy or copy made by another reader. If you need help with information you shared, contact Elementec so the affected records can be reviewed.
